Recently an important announcement was made by Pinterest with regards to their Best Practices. The Social Media Giants have stated that fresh pins will be given #priority and receive more #distribution on the platform.
There may have been some confusion surrounding this #announcement which brought about an ounce of uncertainty amongst #newbies and existing #platformusers about the definition of a #freshpin which is explained below.
So, what is the definition of a #freshpin or #freshcontent?
Simple, it’s an #image or #infographic that has never been Pinned, Posted, or Saved to the Pinterest platform before.
The #pinterestalgorithm2020 values #recency and #relevancy as key factors when thinking of #pinterestcontentfiltering - and as result, this will be distributed more and reach larger audiences.

FAQ RE: Pinterest Strategies For Business and Bloggers
1. Pinning Strategy 2020
As a Pinterest Content Creator, you need to think beyond the image and consider the entire user experience - beginning to end. Bear in mind that your #pinterestfollowers see your pins in chronological order so provide them with value - a few fabulous pins are better than more, non-appealing pins.
RE: Update June 4, 2018 " The Five Pin Rule " - Thankfully this RULE is no longer applicable, visit Pinterest Help pages for more info. Pinners are encouraged to remain pinning "Fresh Content" and that can be at any hour of the day. Spread Your content out appropriately as Pinterest prefers #consistency and #moderation over #volume.
Pinterest #rewardspinners for making visually compelling pins. Express yourself through your creativity by picking #eyecatching #highquality #vertical #images that will stand out in people’s feeds.
The recommended aspect ratio is 2:3 (ex: 600x900 | 1000x1500 pixels). Other ratios may cause your pin to get #truncated and #negatively impact your #performance.
The #pinterestalgorithm values relevancy - make sure your #pinterestcontent - images, title, description, and links appeal to your audience. There should be consistency between the pin content and landing page of that link. The keywords should match or at least be the same.
The most important place to ad #keywords is in your pins #description. You want to make sure your descriptions include keywords both about the items in the pin itself but also #themes that might be related to that pin.
Use the internal Pinterest search tool along with guided searches for suggested keywords. You can also use the Pinterest Trends to see what keyword searches are trending and combine the two to create SEO friendly pin titles and descriptions.
Hashtag pins do get significantly more distribution the day that they are saved to Pinterest. Creators are allowed up to 20 hashtags per given pin, however, it's advisable to use no more than 5 hashtags (quality over quantity). Do not use keywords from the title and descriptions as hashtags. Try guided searches and Pinterest Trends as you can find really great #hashtag keywords. Use thematic hashtags i.e relating to or constituting a theme.
2. Pinterest Board Strategy 2020
It is recommended to save to the most relevant #boardfirst (when scheduling to multiple boards) as that pin will get distribution priority and will bring with it all the data from that particular board. Don’t forget to optimize for search by including rich keywords in your Profile, Board Titles, and Board Descriptions.
The pin/board relationship is really important so keep that in mind when moving forward. It is advised to limit scheduling to a very high number of boards (no more than 10) to improve your performance

Here are Three Primary Reasons to re-share your Pins:
Sharing #seasonalpins once a year as this can bring to light seasonal content when it’s most #relevant, meaning #moreengagement and distribution.
To engage new followers with your best #pinterestcontentideas. You’ll see even #moredistribution when you refresh the images in your Loops!
Experiment with #freshimages for pins that haven’t performed well and #refresh images for pins that are your best performers.
5. FAQ RE: Pinterest Strategies For Business and Bloggers
Is it enough to just save a fresh image on Pinterest or do I have to change the title and description as well?
Yes, it would be to your advantage to change the pin's title and description as these factors help improve the overall performance of the pin and also brings about a better experience for your followers.
What actually counts as a duplicate pin? and should I share them?
A duplicate pin is an image that has been #posted or #saved to the Pinterest platform. Focus on #Creation over #Curation.
What is a re-pin?
A re-pin is when you've logged into #Pinterest and hit save. What comes from #Tailwind is not a re-pin, it's a save. It's not advised to re-pin your own images however, it's considered natural behavior to re-pin content from other users.
Is it impossible for me to pin more than 25 or 50 times in a one day?
A lot of successful Tailwind members are pinning in the range of 15-25 per day, but that's not a limit. Tailwind suggests refraining from posting more than 50 pins per day. If for some reason and there are legitimate reasons you would want to pin over 50 times per day - you can. There is an override that you can select and it will disable the Smart Guide Smart Guard for a period of time. With that been said, you are still in control of how much you pinning, just ensure it's fresh content as this is most beneficial to you.
What is a good way to create Fresh pins? How different does an image need to be in order to be fresh? Here's an example below of all different pieces of images going back to the same content.
The images below are great examples of how to use one image to create a variety of different fresh pins.
Will Tribes still be beneficial?
Pinterest is a place to share and save information so that is a very natural behavior to share other people's content however it's entirely up to you and remember that Tribes is a really great way to connect with other people in your industry who share a common interest as you. Just remember to use it as a regular pinner and align with what your audience would like.
Here's a question a round Frequency. How soon to post all pins from a blog? all in the same day, a week, or month?
As long as the pins are distinct, it doesn't matter. You could share them all out at the same time, to the same board if you wanted too, but you want to be mindful of how it's appearing to your #followers in the #followingtab.
What is exactly is an interval pin?
So anytime in #Tailwind, you have a pin in drafts and you add more than one board, you get that option for interval pinning and what that means is you want your first pin to go out, then the second pin to go out but for this pin, you can set the interval and you might choose like 7 or 9 days apart or even more.
What is the ratio of our own pins vs re-pins? How many pins should we put for our own brand vs re-pinning others?
There's isn't really one, as a suggestion aim to increase your percentage of fresh pins of over duplicates over time. Aim for more #creation of #curation.
How many SmartLoop pins per day?
We really want to get to a point where we putting out more fresh content and it’s not advised to fill every spot with SmartLoop unless you putting fresh pins in there which you’re probably not. Don’t use it just to try and maximize to get more pins out.
